Julian Apple Picking Attempt #1

So we piled all the kids in the cars bright and early, we drove successfully up to Rancho Bernardo for family pictures -- 2 whole family's worth!! Got through those with the minimum number of tantrums possible when dealing with 4 kids under 4 and tired parents. Started our drive up to Julian to pick apples... and the Bakers' car overheats! It was so sad! We pulled over and let the kids out in the front of this gated community to play on the sidewalk. People must have thought we were crazy! Ha. Totally sucked for them, water wouldn't cool it down so luckily we were close enough to a gas station that they could leave it there to get fixed. The kids were troopers about it. They had fun letting this roly poly bug crawl all over them (while I gagged about 50 feet away -- shudder). Anyway, we all got home in one piece, minus apples, but still full of fun!


I was kind of surprised that Max let the thing crawl all over his arm and he was willing to pick it up. He's scared of spiders, but I guess not nasty little bugs. Ew. The other day there was an ant in the bathroom and he picked it right up and brought it outside (accidentally squishing it in the process -- I didn't have the heart to tell him).
