We decided to head on over to the Miramar Air Show at the Marine base down the street. I wish we had been able to go for longer because it was pretty neat! They had tons of jets scattered all over the runway for kids (and adults) to climb up into and check out. They also had lots of jets flying over head nice and low and loud. Max was sure that the reason they were so loud was because they were shooting their guns. I tried to explain that they were loud because they were SO fast. He refused to believe it. When we asked him what they planes were shooting out of their guns he answered "WATER!" I guess I shouldn't be that worried about guns afterall...
Explaining that the gun is there and it shoots water at the people.
Max also liked how there were some that looked just like Big Jet from "Little Einsteins."
I should have taken video of this guy. He was doing all kinds of tricks and stunts, flipping all over the place, flying upside down, diving straight to the ground, climbing straight up, stalling out and free falling while going into spirals, hovering... it was really cool!
Lia at snacks.
Inside a fueling plane (not sure what they are called). Max thought it was pretty cool.
Hard to see what he's doing here, but he's laying down where the soldier guy would lay at the back of the plane to line it up with the other plane waiting to be refueled. Pretty cool!
Lia thought it was pretty funny every time a loud plane flew over. You'd think it would scare her, but nope! She liked it! I guess the kids are pretty used to fly bys like that, seeing as how we live about 3 or 4 miles from a Marine Air Base... we get buzzed all the time!
We will definitely be going back to the air show next year! It's free! And it's fun!
