A New Approach

We have been struggling with Max pretty much since he started eating table foods to get him to sit and eat and finish his dinner. He is very stubborn (if you didn't already know) and Tyler and I butted heads a LOT with him over eating his breakfast and dinner. We tried time outs a lot, which worked sometimes, but mostly just made us all frustrated. So, stealing a page from a friend of ours and the "nice chart" I created the "food chart" for Max.

Basically, every time he eats ALL of his breakfast and ALL of his dinner he gets a sticker. When he gets at least 10 stickers in a week he gets to pick out a prize. So far so good. There are WAY less fights about him eating now, because he knows that if he doesn't eat he doesn't get a sticker and then he might not get his prize. Getting angry is good for no one and rewards seem to work really well for Max. So far he's gotten new jammies, a new sippy cup, a new ball, a new video... We're pretty proud of him and he gets really excited when he finishes and gets to put up a sticker. Cute boy!
