We of course went on the boat and did some tubing, wake boarding and swimming. I love the boat! I don't do any of the water sports but I could totally sit there for hours just enjoying the ride. Mattie even went on the tube all by herself and loved it! She really wanted to try wake boarding but we ran out of time.
We also went to Columbia -- an old historic ghost town nearby. We rode the stage coach and got some delicious Sarsasparilla soda.
Okay... can I just take a second to comment on the fact that I now have a SEVEN YEAR OLD?! What the what?? How did this happen?? I can't believe my crazy energetic, smart, silly, kind, awesome little baby boy is seven. We sure do love our boy. He had a great birthday, too! We started out by giving him a scavenger hunt all throughout the yard to find his presents. Then we headed out to a candy store and did some swimming in the pool. Once Papa was done with work we headed up to Pinecrest for some swimming and kayaking and exploring. Papa took Max out on a kayak to go fishing just the two of them (pretty much the highlight of Max's life) but on their way back the kayak capsized thanks to a big wave from a boat going by and they were stranded for a bit in the freezing lake. Everything ended up okay and Grammie rode out to rescue them. We wrapped Max in every blanket and towel we had, sang happy birthday and ate cupcakes. I have to say it was a pretty fantastic birthday!
We had such a great time visiting! The weather was great and having that awesome pool in the backyard to swim in whenever we wanted was just heaven!
