Well, about 10 minutes in to picking Lia says she has to go potty. The only potty they have is a porta potty and even I'm a little squeamish about those. Lia was having none of that! She pretty much refuses to go to the bathroom in public restrooms (I can't really blame her -- although sometimes it's actually necessary) and calls them "stinky potties." So she refuses to go promising us she doesn't have to go anymore. At this point there's not much we could have done to make her go. So we go back to apple picking.
Next thing we realized was that Lia was standing in a puddle which was odd because it was pretty dang dry up there. And then we see her shoes are wet. And her legs are wet. And then we realize what happened.
We really didn't want to drive all the way home -- especially because we hadn't even had lunch or pie yet! So we changed her clothes. The only thing I had in the back of the car was a pair of Max's old basketball shorts and a white t-shirt. And in true Lia fashion she was absolutely furious that we made her wear "boy clothes." Seriously, she pouted the rest of the afternoon.
We didn't let it spoil our pie though!
We even found a fun store to peruse!
On our way home we stopped for gas and this really cool old car pulled up next to us. Max was pretty excited about it! He was pretty shocked that you had to wind it up to make it go. And the couple who owned it were nice enough to let him sit up in it and pretend to drive. He was pretty excited.
The apples we picked were really really small and not all that great for eating raw so I baked them into a pie and it was delicious!
