Pumpkin Patch

IMG_3859 IMG_3862

We went to Bates Nut Farm again this year (another of our family traditions) and had a blast. We picked a pretty good day to go. During the week so it wasn't too busy and it was slightly overcast so it wasn't too hot. We got 2 nice sized pumpkins, fed the animals and stopped for In N Out on the way home. It was a pretty perfect pumpkin patch visit.

Blue Angels

The Miramar Air Show flew right over our apartment again this year for 3 days. Max was pretty excited to see the Blue Angels all three days fly directly over our heads while we stood by our front door and watched. They got SOOO close to us! It was amazing!

These photos are not enlarged.

Boost

Max said goodbye to his carseat and hello to a new booster seat! He was SO proud of it when he got it. I think he felt like a baby in his carseat.

Faces

Silly girl. This is her face when I ask her to smile for the camera. I wonder how her 2 year old photo shoot is going to look...

Lobster Night

Tyler was away at a conference in Wisconsin so I saw it as my chance to make myself some lobster and enjoy a night in with a good movie by myself. Well, it didn't really go as planned and it started with me purchasing a GIANT lobster. I didn't realize how giant it was until I got it home and took it out. The kids were running wild in the store when the fish guy bagged him for me so I didn't see him until I got home to cook him.

I was SHOCKED.

That's a 12 inch ruler next to him.

That's a 6 inch claw.

He wouldn't even fit in the pot!

Needless to say, he tasted terrible. I should have freed him into the ocean instead of cooking him. I could barely break through the claw. I knew he wouldn't be that good. I still enjoyed my garlic bread!

Superhero Obsession

This kid has one. He's mostly moved on from pirates and is now fully committed to all super heroes and their causes. When his super hero t-shirts are all dirty in the laundry he makes me draw an "S" on his chest. He loves Superman, Buzz Lightyear, Batman, Ironman. ALL of them. He dresses like them, draws pictures of them and tries to get his friends to play them outside. He also waits by the window sometimes waiting to see if one flies by.

First Day of School!

Max had his first day of Preschool back at the end of September and he was really excited to finally go back! Maybe just as excited as ME to have him go back!! It was a little bit of a rough transition for him this time around. He's in the older kids group getting ready for kindergarten so they do more lesson based learning and less random play time. He didn't really understand at first why preschool was so different than before. But he got over and is loving it again. And he's learning how to write his letters, how to recognize them, and he can even read a few words, too!

Lia's been a little lost without him here. But when he's gone she's like a completely different kid. She's calm, quiet, sits on the couch and watches a whole movie, plays quietly in her room with toys. It's amazing how it's night and day when Max is here!

Oragnist

What Max usually does during church while Brooke plays the organ. I still think we have a future musician on our hands like I did when he was just a little baby. He loves music.

Fire Station!

IMG_0669

Thanks to our good friends the Del Pegos we got to go on another firehouse tour. This one was much better! They even let the kids spray the hose and walk around inside the fire truck. They LOVED it. Although I hoped this time around the kids would finally learn that it's not a fire BUS but a fire TRUCK, they did not, and still insist the big ones are called fire buses. Oh well.

I tried to see if Captain Hottie was wearing a wedding ring so I could set him up with my sister or any number of my single friends. Sadly, he had a nice gold band on his ring finger.
