Stash Place

When Tyler and I rearranged the furniture in our living room, we had to run the TV cable all around the whole apartment. Complicated. Anyway, we opened the little weird closet in the living room that houses our furnace and Tyler found this written on the wall:

01171

You don't need a manual to tell you what this place was used for. Although, I wonder how long it lasted since it's pretty dumb to write "stash place" and draw a picture of what you use your "stash" with on a secret hiding place. Sigh... reminds me of our Berkeley days...

Shiny New Beer

This year Max learned all about Shiny New Beer. Oh, wait, you don't know what that is? Duh. CHINESE NEW YEAR!! Yeah, that's what Max kept saying all day. Happy Shiny New Beer! We made won tons and noodles together and ate them like this:

Max and Lia

DSC00508

These kids are seriously buddies. I have to say I'm shocked at how well Max has taken to his new little sister. He seriously loves her and thinks she's so cute. He always says, "oh mama, she's so cute!" and he talks to her and cares for her. It's amazing. There hasn't really been that tough of a transition for him. He loves to have her sit and watch TV with him. She pretty much likes it, too.

And Lia loves him, too. She gets this HUGE smile on her face when Max pays attention to her. It's amazing the bond these two already have!

I have a feeling he's going to be really protective of her as they get older. He already gets antsy when other kids poke and prod her. Man, I love these two!!

The Cat in the Hat

Max loves Dr. Seuss books. So Tyler took him to go see The Cat himself at Pottery Barn Kids. He thought it was really cool, although he was kind of wary of standing next to him for the picture. But he talked about it for the next couple of days. He thought it was really fun.

Lia's Blessing

We finally had Amelia blessed. We did it the weekend Tyler's parents came to visit so they could be there. Lia wore the same dressed I was baptized in. This dress was worn by almost all the girl cousins in my family (the only one who didn't wear it was Tami; I was the first to wear it). It's a very special dress to me and I'm glad my mom saved it all these years.

This is the only picture I have of the day. Hopefully I will be able to get some pictures from Tyler's mom!

Max's First Day of School

We finally signed Max up for preschool! I've been wanting to for a while, but we just haven't found one we could afford and one that he didn't need to be potty trained for (working on it) or that had half day programs. We finally found one on campus, called the ICNS. It's closing at the end of this month so we used it as a trial run. Here's what Max looked like on his first day...

Do you think he liked it much? Do you think he was excited out of his mind? Oh yes. yes. yes. yes. He LOVED it. He did not even look back as soon as he walked in the door. He said "BYE MOM!!" and ran to play. The teachers were shocked and said they never had a kid do that before. He thought it was so fun to go to school with his backpack at the same school as his daddy.

Too bad we had to pull him out. I went to pick him up after he had been going for a few weeks and when I arrived there I found him OUTSIDE by himself in the parking lot. I went in and asked the teachers if they knew he was outside by himself IN THE PARKING LOT! and their response was shocking. They said he probably hadn't been out for too long so there was no need to worry and that he probably escaped when another parent came to pick up their kid. Um, yeah. I was so shocked I just walked out.

Anyway, we're currently looking for other options. Until then, it's all about having fun with mom!
